Maaran – Movie Review

Karthik Naren’s Maaran featuring Dhanush and Malavika Mohanan, produced by Sathyajothi Films, is out on Disney Hotstar. Th atar cast includes Samuthirakani, Ilavarasu, Ramki, Ameer Sulthan, Smruthi Venkat, Kayaprakash among others. Music is by GV Prakash.

Story

Journalist Mathimaaran (Dhanush) takes on a corrupt politician Sathiyamurthy ( Samuthirakani,). He exposes his attempt to hack EVM machines ahead of by-polls. But it lands Maaran’s sister in trouble. What he does to save her forms the crux.

Performance

Dhanush tries to salvage the movie. An outdated story with cliches, his rescue act is not enough.
Samuthirakani plays a regular villain. Illavarasu, Jayaprakash and Ramki, are adequate. Ameer plays a cameo.
