Reliance Jio Faces Nationwide Outage: Mobile Calls and Internet Affected
Thousands of Reliance Jio users across India experienced a sudden network outage on July 6 at around 8:10 PM, disrupting mobile calls and internet services. The issue was reported in major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi.
According to The Times of India, services were restored within an hour in most affected regions. However, the outage hit 5G users in Gujarat and Rajasthan the hardest, with many still reporting issues well after the initial downtime.
Interestingly, some users continued to experience full connectivity, suggesting that the disruption may have affected only a subset of Jio’s user base. Members of TOI’s tech team, for instance, did not face any problems.
Outage tracking site DownDetector recorded over 11,000 complaints within a few hours. Among these:
- 81% reported mobile signal issues
- 13% faced mobile internet problems
- 6% experienced device-related issues
This marks Jio’s third major outage in less than a month, following similar disruptions in Kerala (June 16), Gujarat (June 29), and Madhya Pradesh (July 1).
Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) saw a flood of complaints from frustrated users:
“Jio network here was completely down from 8:15 PM yesterday. No coverage, no calls, not even texts,” one user posted.
“Jio is down! Massive outage just hit—can’t make calls, no signal at all,” tweeted another.
As of now, Reliance Jio has not issued any official statement addressing the outage or explaining the cause.
