At a time when there are complaints of power cuts, Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji has said there are no electricity outages in Tamilnadu, and there won’t be any in the future as well.

Speaking in the Assembly, Senthil Balaji said a tender to import 4.80 lakh tonnes of coal would be finalised in a couple of days to tide over the coal shortage. There could be a shortage of 2,500 MW in the summer, but the State had taken steps to address it, he added.

While replying to a special calling attention motion, the minister said steps are being taken by the department to purchase 3,047 MW and 3,007 MW for the months of April and May respectively.
