Kodaikanal is set to dazzle visitors with its 62nd annual flower show at Bryant Park, scheduled from May 24 to June 1. This event marks the commencement of the nine-day summer festival, a vibrant celebration aimed at attracting tourists during the summer vacation.
Dindigul District Collector S. Saravanan recently inspected the preparations at Bryant Park and the Rose Garden, accompanied by officials from the horticulture department and other government agencies. The collector also convened a review meeting with Kodaikanal municipality officials to ensure seamless execution of the festival.
The summer festival promises a plethora of activities, including a flower exhibition, sports competitions, boat races, and cultural programs. Notably, a kite festival themed “Beat Plastic Pollution” will be held near Mannavanur Lake from May 22 to May 25, aiming to raise environmental awareness among tourists.

Prominent figures such as Rural Development Minister I. Periyasamy, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam, and Tourism Minister K. Ramachandran are expected to grace the inaugural events, adding significance to the celebrations.
In a bid to enhance tourist experiences, the district administration is developing Pepper Falls as a new regulated tourist site. Additionally, safety assessments are underway at five other waterfalls in the region to potentially allow tourist access, ensuring both enjoyment and safety for visitors.
