Our main and foremost demand of the strike is according to the mining plan method, by paying the appropriate Sinorage Fees, the production capacity and demand should be arranged to take the desired quantity. The existing quarries which were in practice before the Mining Plan should be exempted. Also, the officials who come to inspect and measure the quarries that are operating under a proper license should give prior notice. We are ready to pay the appropriate Sinorage Fees to the maximum extent when measuring in properly licensed quarries without penalty.

Last Sunday (25.06.2023), under the leadership of our state association president Chinnaswamy, secretary Chennai Jayaraman and treasurer Tirupur Balasubramaniam, all district quarry association federation meeting was held. In this meeting, the various difficulties we are facing on a daily basis and the necessary steps to overcome them were discussed. The government and authorities must consider our demands and provide a solution immediately. Until then, this strike is planned to be held continuously and is being held from Monday (26.06.2023) with great unity with the participation of all. As this quarry industry is on the verge of extinction in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu government should immediately consider it and provide due support in order to encourage the entrepreneurs.

After agriculture, the construction industry is the most important sector of a country. The mining and quarry sector, which is considered as the backbone of our economy has been affected as if it were in the 3rd stage of Cancer. Realizing this, if the government and officials do not act on a wartime basis and take appropriate action, Tamil Nadu’s construction industry and related employment will be pushed to the worst level in the history. Concluding, public will soon have to pay 10000 rupees for Jelly Unit from 3000 rupees. Due to this, the price of all ongoing Infra and residential buildings will get double.

We regret to inform you that due to this strike 33,80,000 people including construction workers, road workers, truck drivers, quarry and crusher workers have lost their jobs due to the disruption in the construction industry. More than 15,000 migrant workers are returning home due to unemployment.

Many members of our association all over Tamil Nadu has the history of working in the crusher and quarry sector continued for generations. It is commendable that the Tamil Nadu government with progressive thinking has attracted investments from many foreign countries and is supporting entrepreneurs to start businesses and creating job opportunities. We are about 7150 companies and the industry investment for that is about 32000 crore rupees. Through this we are providing employment to around 30 lakh people directly and indirectly to the workers. It should be further expanded and helped to start a better business.
