Chief Minister M K Stalin has said he would write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to give up the National
Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) as it would not augur well in the best interests of the Nation.

Replying to a Special Call Attention motion given notice of by Congress Floor Leader Selva Perunthagai in the State Assembly, he said the proposed monetisation of assets of public sector undertakings would not augur well for the nation.

Observing that profit-making alone was not the objective of PSUs, he said he would write to Modi on the issue urging him shelve the proposed move.

Industries Minister Thangam Thennarasu said since the State government had given land for the PSUs, its views on the NMP should be taken into account.
