TN parties up pressure on Centre over riots in Africa

Leaders from Tamilnadu including Chief Minister M K Stalin have urged the Centre to take adequate measures to safeguard the Indian Community in South Africa.

In his letter to External Affairs Minisiter Jaisankar, Stalin said that the recent reports of riots in South Africa has created a cause for concern on the lives of the Indian Community inlcuding a large section of the Tamil population living there.

He said that the escalation of tensions in the area have badly affected the economy of the people. The Chief Minister appealed to take up the matter at the highest diplomatic levels to impress upon the need to restore peace and harmony at the earliest.
